This extensive training will include these topics:

Teaching techniques and methodologies
Art of giving clear concise instruction
Weaving themes and philosophy into a class
Hands-on adjustments
Observation and assisting
Teaching meditation
Ethics of a teacher
Sanskrit terms, mantras and pronunciation
Yoga philosophy including Yoga Sutra and Bhagavad Gita
Anatomy and therapeutics with special guest teacher
Sequencing, pacing and curriculum
Restorative yoga with special guest teacher
Introduction to pre-natal yoga with special guest teacher
The business of teaching yoga

The course also includes an additional 100+ hours of robust self-study: structured observation, assisting, being mentored, personal home practice and teaching practice.

Prerequisites:

One year of consistent yoga practice and approval of application. The previous Immersion pre-requisite has been eliminated. The Immersion material has been integrated into the Teacher Training program. However, taking an Immersion will give you a definite boost and head start with the training and make you eligible for a discount.

A rigorous, prestigious certification:

Anusara Yoga has one of the highest teacher training standards in the world and this program follows in Anusara's footsteps. Acceptance into this program will be based on your application and the director’s discretion. The hours required to pass receive Shree Yoga Certification exceed the Yoga Alliance standards by over 100 hours. You will graduate with a Shree Yoga Certification that is Yoga Alliance approved. You will also be eligible for Anusara Elements status after meeting their pre-requisites.

About Chaya:

Chaya Spencer, Certified Anusara Teacher, E-RYT 500 and Founder of Shree Yoga Studios has been a student of yoga and meditation since 1969 when she was introduced by her Mother to her first Indian Guru and began to meditate at the age of 6.

Born and raised in New York City, Chaya traveled to India when she was 14 to study yoga and meditation. From 1978-1992 Chaya lived in a spiritual community, or Ashram, and traveled repeatedly between India and the US studying and teaching meditation, yoga, Sanskrit, Indian philosophy, music and cooking. She received her first yoga teacher certification in India in 1990. Chaya received her Anusara Certification in 2002.
