Introduction
Jim, Mark, John, Wiggy and Izzy would like to extend a warm welcome to you at the Yew Tree Inn Chalvington. Please come and join us to experience the eccentricity, which makes this pub so unique!
Set in 7 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside, the Yew Tree Inn Chalvington is a traditional pub situated 6 miles from Hailsham, close to the county town of Lewes and the seaside town of Eastbourne. We are a free house offering fine ales and home cooked food served both inside and out.
The Yew Tree Inn Chalvington is a child and dog friendly pub with a large patio, children's play area, extensive grounds and for 2012 a wonderful large new conservatory - perfect for parties. Unusually, we also have a cricket field and campsite!
Parts of the pub go back to 1642 when it was part of the Pelham Estate and the Pelham Buckle is still on the fireback in the inglenook. The pub is thought to have been a farm worker's cottage back in 1642, but by the time it got to 1860 it is believed to have been a coaching inn and as far as it is known, it has always been called the Yew Tree Inn.
We can easily cater for parties of upto 50 inside and with 7 acres outside we have managed 1000! The Yew Tree Inn Chalvington has hosted many diverse outside functions from weddings to the annual Sussex Volkswagen Owners' Club (SVWOC) Summer Festival and working with the Village Marquee Co. Ltd, we can also provide top of the range, free standing marquees for your event.
