Introduction
With stunning, polished marble floors, soaring 12 foot windows and a sea view balcony, we believe that The Orangery restaurant is the finest dining venue in Thanet. Designed by Andrew Sherrington, and set beside Smiths Court Hotel, the bay windows have a great view across the bandstand and Oval lawns, and out over the sea. Seated in the restaurant, you can experience great cuisine while staring out over spectacular JMW Turner sunsets.
As we are overlooking the sea, and are surrounded by farmland, our chefs are committed to using fresh, local produce. In fact, the restaurant was instrumental in the creation of the Cliftonville Farmers' Market. Our meat comes from the Butcher of Brogdale in Faversham, where the pigs are fruit-fed. Our vegetables are from Nash Farm in Margate, our eggs from Canterbury, and our fish from a Margate boat or from the New Romney fish market. No wonder we are an approved member of Produced in Kent!
We also believe in using these fresh, local ingredients to make all the food that we serve, and you'll never find a dish that isn't hand-prepared in front of you. Each of our chefs specialise in transforming seasonal local raw ingredients into delicious dishes.
We run an à la carte menu alongside a set-price table d'hote every evening, and these menus are redesigned in line with seasonality. The table d'hote menu is also offered for lunch, alongside bar snacks and sandwiches. Finally, we offer our famous Sunday carvery from 12pm to 3pm every Sunday. During January, we take advantage of special offers from our local suppliers, so our menus can change daily.
If you're looking to cater for more people for a special occasion, we can provide excellent bespoke menus and service for all types of functions. Birthday parties, anniversaries, christenings and weddings are all available, and The Orangery is also licensed to conduct civil wedding ceremonies.
