Introduction
Welcome to the Lavender House. This famous sixteenth-century thatched listed building is the home for Richard Hughes' inimitable style of cookery and service, with a bustling restaurant, cookery school, training kitchen and, of course, a heartfelt welcome awaiting beyond the front door! For many years Richard's cooking, best described as 'Modern Norfolk', has been acclaimed by customers, national and local press, and guide books alike. Now, we've found the perfect setting to complement our culinary efforts!
Don't expect the intimidating cathedral-like atmosphere that so many top restaurants seem to radiate: we are looking to have fun, both for us and for you! Whether it be a romantic occasion, a family celebration or a corporate dinner, we believe our passion for our craft will match the occasion. The cookery school offers demonstration evenings, hands on cookery classes, team building events ... even the unique opportunity to become a chef for a day! Come along and see why we are so excited. Just 10 minutes from Norwich city centre, just off the southern bypass, with lots of parking.
