Introduction
The Hare Inn has been an established hostelry since the early 1700s. Over the last 300 years various improvements have been carried out to bring it into the 21st century. Today what The Hare Inn represents is a traditional country pub with echos of the past, indeed there are a number of pictures and paintings that date back over 100 years. Rich in original detail and character the pub is full of charm and has a relaxed atmosphere.
The Hare Inn is situated at one end of the idyllic village of Long Melford which is home to many exclusive shops. Kentwell Hall and Melford Hall are two stately homes adjacent to The Hare Inn. Cherry Lane Garden Centre can be accessed through the beer garden and there are many country walks to enjoy in the area. Long Melford has been settled for many centuries and is recorded in the Doomsday Book of 1086.
The village name is derived from the long three mile road through the centre. The stunning scenery around the village was also the subject of paintings by celebrated artists such as John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough who lived nearby.
The Bar opens all day every day from 11.00am (12.00 noon on Sundays)
