Introduction
The Crown’s bedrooms were created by award-winning interior designers Bentheim; the upstairs of this historic building transformed into a lazy bolthole, making a calm retreat from everyday stresses and the buzz of the bar and restaurant downstairs.
Our ten very individual bedrooms, as with downstairs, ooze comfort and simplicity, emphasising relaxation over style and indulgence over fussiness - a home from home, but with more than a little luxury.
The bedrooms feature plump goose-down pillows, mattresses fit for royalty (they have the warrant to prove it), crisp cotton bedlinen, Italian lighting and lots of personal touches. Bathrooms have under-floor heating and French organic toiletries.
Our take on destination dining is one of the main reasons guests visit the Crown at Woodbridge.
Downstairs, leading off the lavish glass-roofed bar, four intimate areas offer a variety of distinctive eating spaces; whether for a more formal meal in our brasserie-style dining rooms; an informal lunch or supper in our bar rooms at the communal table or on sofas in front of the fire or woodburner; a plate of simple fruits de mer perched at the bar; or a private party in the red room at the front.
When creating the new-look Crown, Stephen David, our Chef-Patron, visualised a stylish different venue, which avoided pretension and would flexibly suit all people and occasions. Whether a romantic table for two on a weekend evening, a business meal with colleagues, a family birthday celebration for Sunday lunch, or simply a midweek supper to avoid the washing-up, we think the Crown does it all.
As an inn, we do not have space for functions, only accommodating a maximum of 28 comfortably in our largest room; this reassuringly means we are open everyday for lunch and dinner, except Christmas Day, without the disturbance of large parties for diners.
