Introduction
In 1998, the Cayman government enacted legislation that requires all employers to provide their workers with pension benefits. Under the National Pensions Law, a pension plan must be regis tered and meet certain provisions.
Silver Thatch Pensions was established in 1997 to meet the requirements of that new legislation. Today, Silver Thatch Pensions is one of the largest pension providers in the Cayman Islands.
Silver Thatch Pensions is a defined contribution pension plan. Under this programme, employees and their employer make contributions based on employees’ earnings. These are referred to as basic contributions.
