Established in 1987
In 1987, Ed and Maggie Sgalio purchased Sofroney Real Estate in Sea Isle City, one of New Jersey's Oldest Real Estate Companies.
Sofroney was home to many of the top real estate agents on the island.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, as technology advanced, the Sgalios, along with computer visionary Jim Ginn, invested and aided in the development of South Jersey's most advanced real estate rental and sales system. Sea Isle City Rentals and Real Estate was created in 1995 along with Sea Isle City's first online commercial presence, SeaIsle.com. The website was hosted on site and featured one of the country's first searchable rental and sale property databases. This costly system was the first of its kind, preceeding Realtor.com, IDX and even the Board of Realtor's computer Multiple Listing Service(MLS).
In 2009, the business merged with Coldwell Banker Laricks in Sea Isle City.
Meet the Business Owner: Maggie S.
Maggie and her husband, Ed, came to Sea Isle on day trips during college years at Rowan University, formerly Glassboro State College. Their friends all went to Ocean City but Maggie and Ed liked Sea Isle better.
They married and moved to Sea Isle in 1972 and raised their four children and many, many animals on the island.
Maggie began her career in real estate in 1981 and started working at Avalon Real Estate in Sea Isle for Will and Jean Chapman.
She later moved to Pleasure Realty. In 1987 she and Ed bought Sofroney Real Estate.
They met many wonderful people through those years and ended up helping the children and grandchildren of many clients.
They were favorites of Jay Lamont and appeared on his show numerous times.
Maggie knows the island and surrounding communities inside and out. Her knowledge gives her the edge when it comes to providing exceptional service for her clients.

In 2009 Ed suffered a massive heart attack while consulting in Maryland. While he was in the hospital there having 4 bypasses, Maggie got a call from Don Laricks asking her to move the business to his office. Ed recovered, they merged with Laricks and it has been great for everyone involved!
Maggie knows the island inside and out and that knowledge gives her the edge when it comes to advising clients, not only for buying homes or selling homes, but also finding the perfect rental for a family.
