It starts with a traditional procession and decorated elephants (with heavy jewelry and flowers) march along in a parade. Later, it is followed by many different elephant games like best decorated elephant, elephant polo, elephant decoration exhibition and elephant races. Most of the elephants, which take part in the festival, are female. The elephant Polo game is the most important feature of this festival, where the players are dressed in saffron and red turbans and try to score goals with long Polo sticks.

The elephant festival is celebrated on the eve of Holi, a festival of colors. According to the Hindu calendar, it signifies the New Year and also signals the end of winter and starts the spring season. This festival is an event not to be missed. Every Year, it is organized by Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporations and attracts tourists from every nook of the world.
