Introduction
We at Kerbey Lane Cafe have proudly served comfortable food at reasonable prices to the Austin community since 1980. We make it our mission to bring you the freshest ingredients and all natural meats. Enjoy the bounty of the Central Texas Harvest at one of our five locations, or take a taste of an Austin tradition home with you.
Diverse, adventurous, socially-conscious, fun'Kerbey Lane Cafe embodies what's best about Austin. We have five locations, each serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner 24 hours a day. That's 840 hours of Kerbey a week for Austinites to catch up over weekend brunch, devour a post-concert Queso, lunch with coworkers, or get their caffeine fix with our bottomless cups of coffee.
We opened the first store in a small house on Kerbey Lane in 1980, sensing a market for affordable food cooked with fresh, locally grown ingredients. More common today, this kind of a restaurant seemed revolutionary at the time. With very little local agriculture finding items like locally grown tomatoes in 1980 Austin wasn't easy, but buying locally and cooking with fresh ingredients are so central to the Kerbey philosophy that we worked to forge strong relationships with local suppliers and built menus around what local farmers had in season. Seasonal menus added variety, ensured freshness, and allowed us to work with smaller local farms who might not be able to keep up with Kerbey's volume year-round. Seasonal menus remain a huge part of what we do. Some of our most beloved items like tomato pie and pumpkin pancakes appear on seasonal menus.
Austin is a city of diverse tastes and our menu reflects that. You can find classics like buttermilk pancakes, bacon, burgers, biscuits and gravy, one of a kind Kerbey creations like Eggs Francisco, (an English muffin topped with scrambled eggs, bacon, tomato, avocado and then ladled with liberal amounts of queso) along with a mix of internationally-inspired dishes including hummus and pita, Greek Chicken, seasonal pastas, and Tex Mex favorites migas and enchiladas. We offer tons of vegan and vegetarian items: a daily vegan pancake, vegan breakfast tacos, and Portobello as an option for salads, fajitas, and pastas. We also keep vegans and vegetarians in mind when building seasonal menus. Recent seasonal menus have featured a veggie sloppy joe and the oxymoronically delicious vegan queso.
KLC is a part of the Austin community and we take our citizenship seriously. We buy from local vendors, mom and pop stores like Antonelli's Cheese Shop, offer our walls to local artists, sponsor Austin events, support several local charities, participate in canned food drives, and sell our pink pancakes each year to support the fight against breast cancer.
KLC continues to expand and evolve, but no matter what changes, the quality of our ingredients and our passion for making fresh, delicious, affordable food remains a constant. With five locations spread throughout Austin, all open 24 hours a day, you're never far away from an amazing Kerbey experience.
