Thank you so much for the fantastic send off you gave Shirley on Monday. The most amazing environment to say goodbye: great food, great service and the leftovers delivered to Tony at home for our tea! Very much look forward to seeing you on Xmas day when no doubt we will all together drink another toast to Shirley. Thank you also for Pilar's regular visits to her home once she was no longer able to get out to see you and enjoy your lovely food. You are all lovely and your food is wonderful. You always go the extra mile.

Superb food and excellent service. The inclusive menu is great value.Have been going several years and never had a bad meal.It is family run.The same chef has been there for years and one of the family helps in the kitchen as well. The black pudding and apple starter, sardines great. The steak diane is so tender. My son likes the more unusual things on the a la carte menu like the frog legs. The sweet trolley is great. The mango is prepared with great skill.Recommended.

I arranged a surprise 80th birthday party at El Nido for a Wednesday evening for 38 people. Perfect organisation by the restaurant proprietors plus good liaison, presentation, service and most importantly food from a specially selected menu for this function - a very good choice of starters and main courses followed by the sweet trolley and coffee with mints.

This was not my first visit to El Nido and will not be the last.

I have subsequently received numerous messages of thanks from party goers for arranging this get-together and very complimentary comments about the venue and food. Not one adverse remark!

Thanks to all at El Nido, see you again soon!

This place is a quirky gem of a restaurant in an otherwise lacking suburban town. The staff, often rushed off their feet, are mostly attentive and will always have a friendly smile ready for you - when they get a chance to catch their breath!

The menu is interesting - some real 70s throwbacks, such as steak diane, sit alongside elaborate fish dishes. The real treat is in the set menu - for £17, you get three courses along with bread and delightful crudite and tangy thousand island dressing.

Some of their best dishes are hiding away in the set menu - the steak, a bargain for the price, is phenomenal. I don't know where they source their meat, but I wish I did! Whether you want it rare, well done, or anything in between, it's always cooked to perfection, with a delicious flavourful crust of seasoning.

The starters are varied and generous, from the simple sauteed mushrooms to the luscious pate and toast points.

Dessert only just loses out to the steak for the best course, in my opinion - it's a dessert cart! Whether you fancy a simple fresh fruit salad, something rich and chocolatey or a traditional dish like apple pie, the desserts are all classics, and all just lovely.

You won't regret dining here. It's unique and retro, and rather what I imagine it would have been like dining at Fawlty Towers, without the lofty grump of an owner and the continuous disasters. The best place in Wallington, without a doubt.

Re Anonymous : What hidden costs in set menu? There aren't any! Starter, Main and Pud all for £16.95, no extra. Food always superbly cooked and full of flavour, staff extremely pleasant and a warm ambience. A lovely restaurant to treat yourself to.
