When our award-winning founder directors formed Acumen PR in Edinburgh in 2002, their objective was not to build a large consultancy but rather a small, director-led agency with its key focus on client handling – which is why every client has an Acumen director on the team, advising, supporting and delivering the results to support your businesses objectives.
Kevin Dorrian, Director, PR Agency Scotland
Kevin began his working career as a Press & Broadcasting Officer for the Automobile Association (AA) – establishing AA Roadwatch – the nationally recognised road and traffic reporting broadcasting service. Kevin moved into PR consultancy, working for one of Birmingham’s leading full service agencies before returning to Edinburgh in 1990 to join Dunseath Stephen – then Scotland’s largest independent PR consultancy.
Kevin helped develop a raft of major award-winning PR campaigns for Kwik-Fit – including ‘Belt up in the Back’ – and successfully lobbied parliamentary support for the scheme which led to the legislation being adopted.
Kevin devised and created PR strategies for several major industrial and trade exhibitions and won an ‘Outstanding Consultancy Practice’ award from the PRCA (Public Relations Consultants Association) for his work on the Scottish Motor Show. Kevin’s client sectors include higher education/academia, entrepreneurship, innovation, maritime, property and a wide range of cutting edge technologies.
Alistair McLean, Director, PR Agency Scotland
A PR practitioner for over 25 years, Alistair has worked at senior level within PR consultancies, advertising agencies and in-house communications teams. His specialist area is B2B PR and marketing.
As the first in-house PR & Marketing Senior Manager for Price Waterhouse, outside London, Alistair subsequently led the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) PR & marketing team in Scotland, before returning to consultancy work.
Alistair’s extensive experience has seen him advise a wide range of clients, including Cable & Wireless, Autoglass, Scottish & Newcastle, Oracle UK, Racal, SECC, Scottish Friendly Assurance and West Lothian NHS Trust.
