Introduction
At Pride of India, a stylishly appointed restaurant, subtly-spiced flavours explode in a magnificent taste sensation in your mouth. A menu Bosts 120 different dishes, and as the owner Mr. Bhima says, each one is made with such loving care and attention to detail that each is a speciality.
All tastes are catered for and a glance at the list of dishes reveals that ample provision is made for vegetarians, while chicken and lamb dishes also take pride of place here. Seafood lovers will not be disappointed either with a choice of fish dishes like a gentle curry in a coconut sauce made the Goanese way, prawns (shelled) cooked temptingly in Indian herbs and spices or, if you really feel like splashing out, why not try the crab curry, cooked either in a touch of creaminess and traditional Indian spices or for the brave of heart, a South Indian spicier version.
If that sounds tantalising, then how about chicken cooked in a rich cashew nut sauce, or lamb chops basked with ginger, garlic and tandoori spices.
Vegetarians can try a range of lentil dishes, paneer makhana (cubes of Indian cottage cheese) and dry fruit, cooked in a mild spice or a paneer tikka on a skewer with green peppers, onions, basted with tandoori spices.
A superb wine list accompanies these delectable treats, so that you won't be let down on this side.
Good food and great wines must be enjoyed in amiable surroundings, and Pride of India has gone to great lengths to ensure that diners will feel as if they are tucked away in an Indian palace. A central skylight showers rays of sunshine onto tropical plants and the large and beautifully appointed tables are discreetly divided by pillars. All the crockery and cutlery come from India, as do the exquisite brass-bottomed serving plates.
Also from the Asian sub-continent come all the spices, and apparently over 200 are judiciously blended for use in these dishes, the recipes of which date back centuries, having carefully been preserved from generation to generation.
This is a place to go and indulge, to be spoilt and to relish some of the finest Indian food you'll ever eat!
