Introduction
In 1986 ‘Business Forms Services’ was established in Reading, Berkshire by John Hope. bfs began selling Rollin self-adhesive printing blankets to business forms and envelope printers and quickly gained stature within the print industry allowing the company to expand its product range, hire new staff and move to larger premises.
After purchasing CNC blanket cutting equipment in 1995, bfs became the exclusive converter of Rollin tension blankets in the UK, making the company one of the premier printing blanket converters in the country.
Business Forms Services was officially rebranded bfs Pressroom Solutions in 1999; helping the company appeal to a larger variety of customers including heatset, coldset, sheetfed and packaging printers by better reflecting its product range and services.
bfs began selling ink in 2002 after the acquisition of a Luton-based ink mixing business. The bfs range of inks soon became very popular and as a result, the ink division moved to larger premises in Leighton Buzzard.
The company acquired Tyke Rollers in 2007, and began offering a roller recovery and manufacturing service to customers.
In 2008, bfs formed a partnership with German-based roller manufacturers, Westland Gummiwerke, making bfs the sole licensee for Westland Rollers in the UK.
The bfs roller division continued to grow, recruiting more staff and moving to a larger factory in 2009. In early 2011 bfs has invested in cutting edge automated roller manufacturing equipment helping the company reduce waste and improve productivity.
To date, bfs is enjoying a healthy position within the print industry and is looking to continue the success achieved in the last 30 years.
