Introduction
art-K runs art classes for children aged 6-16 and adults. Our programme is personalised to each individual to enable you to learn and develop at your own rate.
art-K takes children 6 to 16 years old on an extraordinary exploration of art. We have been running art classes since 2000 and we opened the Maidstone branch in 2020.
Our aim is for the children to explore and experiment with a range of mediums like watercolour, acrylics, pastels, inks, oils etc; to develop their drawing skills in many different ways; try out many 3D activities; and above all keep them happy, motivated and continually developing. The projects are all age-related as we understand that at different ages children have different capabilities and interests.
We incorporate exercises such as visual memory, visual perceptual skills and parallel drawing for the younger children to build up their visual vocabulary. As their artistic skills develop, and their own natural creativity, it’s lovely to see them gain the freedom and confidence to express themselves. We also help children with their projects for art GCSE.
In our adult sessions although there is flexibility in the course, there is also structure for the less experienced artist who is looking to learn a new skill. The classes are lead by talented artists who are able to teach and assist you with new techniques or provide you with ideas if you are more experienced.
We discuss inspirational artists from the Impressionists to David Hockney to Ann Blockley, who is a vibrant watercolour artist, and we experiment using their techniques.
In both the children and adult sessions, we will provide you with all the materials you need as well as expert advice in a calm, friendly environment.
