Zed's Restaurant

Zed's is a modern, casual restaurant serving American fare with Austin-inspired preparations and ingredients. Set upon three acres that include spacious decks, a pond, hike and bike trail and indigenous landscaping, Zed's has created an oasis in the city, just minutes from the hustle and bustle of I-35.


Zed's is an everyday celebration of Austin's vibrant culture, from its menu and casually sophisticated vibe to live music offerings (coming in 2011). Celebrated local architect Michael Hsu designed the airy yet warm space that integrates the clean lines of the restaurant with the existing hillside landscape. A major focus of the dining backdrop is the creation of a unique east-facing deck built to take advantage of summer breezes with large overhangs, Big Ass Fans (the acclaimed manufacturer) and comfortable furnishings. Heaters in winter ensure that the spacious, scenic deck is functional virtually year-round. According to Hsu, "We worked to design a place that felt welcoming and communicated hospitality and warmth with a level of design sophistication that excites people."

Upon arrival, a landscaped stone entry path and waterfall welcomes guests. Water is a calming element throughout the restaurant, flowing from the entry through the interior and out to the decks beyond via specially-designed waterways designed by Austin-based Pape-Dawson Engineers.

All views face to the beautiful panorama beyond the decks - nearly three acres of landscaped property with a pond, bridge and walkways. This "great lawn" will eventually include an outdoor venue hosting musical performances, both local and regional acts, by summer of 2011.
