Introduction
Yellow Peril Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located at The Plant, a historic mill complex in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island.
The Gallery strives to foster modern art critiques on popular culture and society from emerging and mid-career artists in the United States and abroad.
We aspire to exhibit provocative and visually arresting artwork created specifically to ignite conversations long after viewers have left the building.
Artists that we represent share our commitment to social responsibility, and a percentage from the sale of all artwork is donated to a charitable organization of the Artists’ choice.

Robert P. Stack
Curator
A native of Providence, Robert Stack returns home after more than three decades of involvement in the New York City Art, Architecture and Preservation industries. In addition to his Architecture degrees from Syracuse University and Columbia University, he has also studied painting at The Cooper Union, and once ran his own hand-crafted ceramic tile company. Stack brings his own unique viewpoint to curation at Yellow Peril through these lenses of history, craft and commerce. In addition to his role as Curator at Yellow Peril, Stack runs Robert P. Stack, AIA, a private architecture firm, and he is the Executive Director of Mid-Century Modern Rhode Island, a nonprofit preservation organization based in Olneyville.

Vanphouthon Souvannasane
Director
Vanphouthon Souvannasane is a technology savvy, creative professional with over 18 years of broad experience in facilitating client and management communication in multimedia environments (print, web & film/video) in New York City and Brussels, Belgium. As Director of Yellow Peril Gallery since 2011, he incorporates social media as a tool to promote and market emerging artists and connect them with global audiences and collectors – as well as other galleries in NYC and abroad to extend their reach. A graduate of Hampshire College, Souvannasane lived 10 years in NYC, four in Brussels (where he attended graduate school at Boston University Brussels), and he has traveled extensively to more than 100 cities around the world to connect with CEOs and senior executives from leaders in the technology and financial services sectors. He is passionate about contributing to Providence’s creative heritage and cosmopolitan vibe by using Yellow Peril to promote artists and their artwork through innovative and engaging channels. In March 2012, Souvannasane launched COLLECT, a limited run magazine about collecting art, featuring interviews with artists, previews of upcoming shows in the region, special columns about the art world, and introductions to Flat File artists. In April 2012, he was invited to speak on a panel at The Providence Athenaeum about “The State of Contemporary Art in Providenceâ€, which was broadcasted on RI NPR. Momentum from COLLECT magazine spawned COLLECT, an art and design concept store based in #102 Satellite Project, a 2,500 square foot space used by Yellow Peril for artistic explorations and dedicated to breeding a new class of art collectors. In November 2012, the Board of the Providence Biennial for Contemporary Art selected Souvannasane as their new Executive Director. In this role, he hopes to harness the talents of the Creative Capital to make the inaugural Providence Biennial a reality in 2014. Other projects in 2013 include establishing an official Olneyville Arts District and presenting Yellow Peril’s artists to new markets in Latin America and Asia via collaborations with affiliated galleries and select satellite art fairs.
