Star of India Restaurant

I booked a table on the 4th May 2013 for 12 people as a birthday meal I was very disappointed in the service we received on this visit, had to wait ages for our drinks and I had a 10 minute wait for my main meal after everyone else had been served. Unfortunately after paying the bill and leaving the restaurant I realized my purse was missing I immediately telephoned the restaurant for them to check the table and underneath to which they said it was not there. I then drove back to the restaurant to check for myself the table was still as we had left it minutes before I would not recommend going to this restaurant as I feel waiters are dishonest!! A rubbish end to a lovely birthday!!

On Thursday my daughter and I went to the restaurant after my grandson's school nativity play.
The service was fine and the food tasted Ok. I had the chicken korai and my daughter had a prawn dish and we shared everything else. Unfortunately less than an hour later, I started to experience stomach pains and then spent most of the night in the bathroom with diarheer.
From what we had eaten it can only be due to the chicken korai. This is a pity because we have enjoyed meals there before and would obviously hesitate before doing it again.

The Best Indian restaurant for miles around. Friendly and the choice of food is excellent. The refurbishment really makes it stand out

Won't go there again. Good food but spoiled by a particular waiter who is always trying to make us go before we have finished. He keeps coming to the table, making us feel uncomfortable, so much so that I told him so. Shame because it used to be our favourite restaurant. Will go elsewhere in future.

Cleanest restaurant I have ever used. Even the menus are wiped daily (as I witnessed yesterday). The whole place sparkles. Food is excellent and the staff go out of their way to make you comfortable. By far the best in town.

Spotlessly clean restaurant and very good food...the best I have found. However, lunchtime dining should have the same standard as evening dining. My absolssute favourite within 5 mile radius of Cheam... 5 STARS

been to this place a few times and love it. super service. great food. fair prices.
from reading the last comment it sounds like things have changed. will go back there on friday and see.

£4.60 a beer is a bit over the top.

A group of eight of us visited the Star for a meal. We were seated and ordered seven bottles of indian beer. We chatted and ordered another seven beers, at this moment we realised we had been waiting 40 minutes for our food, i asked where the food was "its coming" was the reply. Shortly after the hotplates were placed on the table, 20 minutes later and still no food the hotplates were removed as they had gone cold.

I asked for the manager and explained we had been waiting over an hour for our meal, he assured me it would be with us within 5 minutes. 10 minutes elapsed and still no food. We decided to leave and asked for the bill for the drinks we had, i was disgusted to see it was over £65, making each bottle £4.60, more than i would pay in a nightclub. I refused to pay that much and the bill was reduced.

As we were leaving a family who had overheard our conversation told us they had come into the restaurant at the same time as ourselves and were still waiting for their meal.

So if you want an expensive night out, with no food and poor service would highly recommend The Star indian restaurant in Cheam Surrey.
