Introduction
The Angel is one of the best known and best loved inns in the country and quite simply a delightful place both to stay and dine.
With origins in part over 500 years old the inn is, as you would expect, full of atmosphere and charm with oak beams, nooks, crannies and crackling log fires yet with a style that’s both sophisticated and up-to-date and, above all, supremely comfortable.
All studios and suites have been individually furnished to a high standard and decorated to compliment the natural beauty, stone and beams of the ancient building. For residents convenience they are provided with mini bars, electric hair dryers, safes and tea and coffee making facilities. We have one ground floor bedroom with a wet room that is suitable for disabled guests – please ask for details. All rooms are now equipped with wifi and iPod docking stations.
The Bar Brasserie is very informal. The food is as exciting and serious as in the restaurant. Each dish is individually priced. Clients come in for just a coffee or a bowl of fresh soup, or can comprise their own 3 course menu from the al a carte or regularly changing list of blackboard specials. We offer a fantastic value two and three course lunch and dinner at £12.95 and £15.95. Some of our most popular dishes include a seven week matured steak which simply melts in your mouth and our famous moneybag which has become an institution.
The Restaurant serves an early bird menu, two courses for £15.95 and three courses for £19.95, and an a la carte menu Monday – Friday. A fixed price menu is served for Saturday Dinner, four courses plus coffee for £38.50 and Sunday Lunch at £26.25. Our award winning wine list is unashamedly 60% French with a leaning towards Burgundy. We offer over twenty wines by the glass including some particularly special wines such as Puligny Montrachet and Chateau St. Pierre*. Reservations in advance are strongly recommended to avoid disappointment.
