Introduction
A stone's throw from the Cutty Sark, the Spanish Galleon enjoys a prime spot in the centre of historic Greenwich and displays a wealth of artefacts, maps and other curiosities relating to the area's naval heritage.
Designed and built by Joseph Kay in 1834, in the reign of William IV, the pub has always been named the Spanish Galleon.
The historic building survived World War I and the Blitz with minor damage and has been refurbished to offer modern facilities while retaining many of its original architectural features.
Authentic Kentish beer remains a popular feature with distinctive cask ales kept in perfect condition. There is also a good selection of wines.
This is a traditional pub which supports the local community through sponsorship of the Greenwich Tritons triathletes club and offers a warm welcome to tourists visiting the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site.
The Spanish Galleon has Sky Sports television and regularly shows football, rugby, cricket, tennis, golf and cycling.
High quality, traditional pub food is available in the pub's main eating area and conservatory, catering for up to 60 customers at a time.
The kitchen puts the emphasis on traditional favourites, freshly-prepared from good quality ingredients, winning the Spanish Galleon an entry in The Pub Guide to London.
A good selection of wines by the glass, cask beers and distinctive lagers complements the menu, which offers hot and cold food to suit all tastes.
