Introduction
Sarah Swirled Belly Dance is a small local business based in Lancashire. It started in 2009 after business owner Sarah enrolled and completed the JWAAD Safe Teaching of Belly Dance Course, but after a few years moved her weekly classes to Penwortham, in Preston. Sarah is a generous teacher, making students in class feel at ease and encouraging them to improve and progress. The same can be said in the other services Sarah provides, engaging audiences with her performances, talks and workshops alike.
Beginners Belly Dance Courses (In House)
This course has been designed for complete beginners and teaches students some of the basics of Egyptian belly dance. They are designed to be fun, allow attendees to meet new people and maybe begin the adventure of a lifetime.
Tuesday 21st April - Tuesday 26th May
7pm - 8pm
Mpower Yoga Studio, Cuerden Farm Barn, Wigan Road, Leyland, PR25 5SB
The course costs just £35 which includes tuition, class hand-outs and a free CD.
Booking is essential via my website.
Mobile Crash Course
I appreciate that not everyone can make it to a weekly class, and so the Beginners Course can also be offered as an out-of-house gig. The format is the same: six hours of tuition with weekly class hand-outs and a free CD for all attendees, only I travel to you. As a bonus, you can choose how the six hours are taught, i.e. one hour per week, two hours over three consecutive days, or maybe a weekly suits best. The choice is yours,. However, travel costs may be incurred and a suitable venue will also need to be found. All of this will be discussed and arranged prior to booking. For more information, visit my website.
Educational Talks
As an approved speaker for the Women's Institute, I have developed a fantastic talk all about belly dance. The talk length is normally one hour (although I can change as neccessary). The talk is all about different styles and costumes of belly dance and shows how costumes have changed over the years. Not only will attendees get to learn about these different styles and what makes them different, but they will get to see various costumes which goes with each, and I also do a dance demo of each style. This has proven to be popular over the last few years, and is different than other talks in that it is more visual. Also suitable for other groups too.
Workshops
Ideal for groups wanting to learn something new. I have three workshops available:
An Introduction to Belly Dance - teaching some basic dance moves before moving on to teach a simple but fun choreography.
An Introduction to Saidi stick dance - learn what this dance is, the history behind it and where it comes from. Learn some basic dance moves, how to use the stick and learn a simple choreography.
An Introduction to Veil - This is a beautiful prop which is used in Egypt, and in this workshop you will learn when and how it is used. Learn how to move with the veil, some basic dance moves and a simple choreography.
It is recommended that you allow 1.5 hours for these workshops to allow plenty of time, but this is negotiable.
Parties
Sometimes all you want is for someone to provide an activity for your party, and dance is always a good one. Whether for children or adults, I can come and supply your entertainment, teaching attendees some basic dance moves before teaching a simple but fun choreography. You can decide on the piece you want, or let me pick from my library. For children, party games could be included with less dancing, to be discussed and organized beforehand. For more information visit my website.
Performances
Belly dance is all about the performance and can add that special sparkle to any celebration. Performance length is up to you, and will vary from celebration to celebration, depending on what you want. Content is also arranged according to what you want, so please be clear about what you'd like to achieve. More information is available via my website.
Please note: the venue address given is where I teach my weekly classes.
