Miller & Carter Steakhouse, Bar & Grill Chigwell

I was out with a friend and his very well behaved dog and we stopped here for a drink and lunch on Friday. The back garden was completely empty but we were snootily told that we were not allowed to eat any food there - " it's not our policy". ( we were only looking for a snack or sandwich) .We then took a table by the side of the building - overlooking the car park so hardly ideal. I most suprised to then be told again that this also was not within their unexplained policy and that we must sit round the front. I explained that we had a dog with us so maybe not appropriate whereupon the staff member went away and returned to tell me very condescendingly that on this one occasion, they would make an exception but we could only sit at the table closest to the door. Needless to say I politely declined this most generous offer on the grounds of the whole episiode being so very unwelcoming and so astonishingly lacking any customer focus.. You maybe interested to know that I was actually also there to assess whether I wanted to hold a big celebratory dinner there next month - needless to say this has been scratched off my list as a potential venue.

I was one of a party of ten, last Friday 9th March 2012, we had a wait of at least half an hour for a table, which no problem we just had a drink and a chat, we then waited for our meal, which took forever, unfortunately it was not the standard we have previousely had on all our other previous vistis, also when my Son in Law ordered a millky coffe at the end of our meal, he was presented with just warm milk, the waitrees when asked then realised she had not put any coffee into the milk,then when presented with the bill, we thought it was a bit overpriced so checked the bill, and it was overpriced by £180, we were then told they had forgotten to cash off the previous people that had our table before. As this was a a birthday treat, it was very disappointing and no apologies were made,I do hope this is not going to be the service we are likely to get. if we decide to eat there again?
