King Palace Restaurant

Good service, lovely staff, food is ok but do yourself a favour and wander round the corner and go to xians. Now THAT is a whole different standard of food. It's is so much better!

Iv been told by many to go to the King Palace Restaurant for some decent Chinese food, and I wasn't let down. There was 3 of us in total and we went on a Friday night so it was fairly busy. The staff there was welcoming and friendly, sat us down and took our coats. we had set menus, and although I'm not keen on Set menus the choice was good and the waitresses were more then happy to swop a dish. The food came and it was set up very professionally with hot plates and authentic heaters to keep the food warm. food was delicious and although a little pricey, they deserved every penny, and cannot wait to go back!!

Well I don't even know how to start! Been to Kings Palace before and it was ok! However on 10 Jan 2012 I went there with a friend who booked a quiet table for 2 away from everyone. We did get a corner table for 2 but immediately next to another set of diners! And being a Tuesday, and only 2 other sets of diners, it wouldn't have been difficult to seat us elsewhere! We then were asked within 1 minute of getting our menus what we would like to order!!!!! So we ordered our drinks first, a bottle of wine, glass of water and with that she left before my friend could order his! It took 4 attempts at getting the waitresses attention to come back so he could get his drink! She was ok but considering so few people were there it wouldn't have been difficult for them to respond to his request sooner! Then we were asked 3 times in 10 minutes what we would like to order - when we were clearly not ready. In the end we ordered 2 starters. I ordered Sesame Prawn Toast and he ordered Wonton Soup. It was delivered promptly, but he wanted some chilli sauce. He then again tried to get the attention of 2 of the 3 people on staff! Took 5 mins before another woman who looked more like a manageress came over. She was full of attitude and totally rude. I asked if I could have some sweet & sour sauce for my prawn toasts to be dipped in and was promptly and rudely refused - NO WE DON'T DO THAT - WE DON'T DO DIPPING SAUCES. Prawn toasts were ok but when i've been to other restaurants they always accommodate. Anyways I couldn't eat much of the prawn toasts as it was dry. He finished his wonton soup and they came over to collect the dishes. I then said to leave the prawn toasts as I would keep them for when I received my sweet & sour pork and dip it in the sauce!!!!!!!!!!! Her attitude was unbelievable! It was obvious they wanted us to hurry up as the other 2 parties in the restaurant had left and i'm sure they wanted to leave early! But because of their attitude and service we stayed until just before 11pm - no way were they gonne treat us like that! NO TIP WAS LEFT. NEVER EVER GO THERE AGAIN! THEY WOULD NEED TO CHANGE THEIR STAFF BEFORE I SET FOOT IN THAT PLACE AGAIN AND WILL MAKE SURE ALL MY FRIENDS KNOW!
