Introduction
Established in 1996 on historic Sixth Street the Iron Cactus has been serving contemporary Mexican cuisine for over 13 years. We draw our inspiration for our cuisine from various regions in Mexico. The Iron Cactus can be found in 5 locations across Texas. Named one of the top 10 tequila bars in the country, we feature over 80 different types of tequila. With a deep passion for creating bold, unique and flavorful dishes the Iron Cactus stands apart as a premier dining and drinking destination.
The Iron Cactus evolution began in 1996 when Gary Manley and Michael Pottorff restored a historic, turn of the century building on Sixth Street in Austin, Texas that became the original Iron Cactus. The mission of creating a warm, friendly and unique environment was accomplished and today our restaurants provide guests with the best Mexican food and fresh lime margaritas in the markets we serve. Our menu is the culmination of years of dedication and passion by our team of chefs and managers. Our combination of unique flavors and proven cooking methods are combined to create cuisine with the spirit and flavor of old Mexico. We use only the freshest and best ingredients in all of our dishes. The same passion for quality is echoed throughout every element of our restaurant. Signature margaritas and tequila-influenced cocktails are the perfect companions to our culinary selections. Featuring over 75 tequilas, the Iron Cactus has been named a top ten tequila bar by such national publications as Chili Pepper Magazine and Spirits and Cocktails.
