Bokhara rugs originate from the Bukhara region of present-day Uzbekistan. Earlier known as Tekke Bokhara, Bokhara rugs are crafted in Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan other than Uzbekistan. However, Pakistan is known for making the most luxurious hand-knotted Bokhara rugs. Antique Bokhara rugs are generally Tekke faced and feature symmetrical patterns of diamond-shaped motifs and oval patterns. They generally feature the tones of red, though they are also available in Ivory, Rose, and Grey hues.
