Introduction
Habitat Aid has been trading from its Somerset base since 2008. We promote and sell British native trees, hedging, aquatic plants, wildflower seed and heritage fruit trees, which we buy from a community of small specialist UK nurseries, harvesters and growers. We also offer groundwork, planting, seeding and ecological services through our network of partners.
We think the local origin and distinctiveness of plants isn’t just important for biodiversity, but also culturally.
Wildflower meadows, orchards, ponds, wetlands, hedges, woodland - these should be beautiful elements of our landscape, teeming with life. People just aren't aware of the collapse in biodiversity associated with the continuing loss of these habitats. Compared to climate change it's a small story in the media.
We have close links to a number of specialist science based UK conservation charities who are working with us to address this issue. We donate half of profits from online retail sales to them, as well as funding community planting and seeding projects.
We have recently been involved in over 70 solar farm projects, advising on and delivering the requirements of Landscape and Ecological Management Plans. We now also audit existing sites to ensure their compliance with planning requirements.
Our corporate clients have included Charlie Bigham, the Co-op, Good Energy, Hillier’s Nurseries, Nestle, M&S, and Noble Foods. We also supply a number of national and local government organisations (including the Environment Agency), NGOs and garden designers including Tom Stuart-Smith and Matthew Wilson.
*PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT HOLD ANY STOCK AT OUR HEAD OFFICE*
