Go Heritage India Journeys

Go Heritage India deserves mixed reviews from me. We booked a 3 1/2 week tour of Delhi, Varanasi and Cochin. On arrival at Delhi the Go Heritage rep was not at the airport to meet us. This caused quite a bit of midnight angst trying to get a transfer to,our hotel. Then we found that Go Heritage had booked us into a double room instead of twin share room so we had to get a change for single beds also at midnight. (we are two friends not a couple).
Go Heritage failed to,provide vouchers for all the prepaid accommodation and entries on our trip so this caused no small inconvenience every where we went.
Go Heritage managed an upgraded hotel at Varanasi, but the guide was extremely unfriendly and unpleasant.
When we arrived in Cochin our luggage was lost, this was not the fault of Go Heritage, however they had provided us with a different hotel name on our itinerary to that which we were actually booked into, so our luggage had difficulty finding us when it arrived.
We had booked and prepaid a houseboat for two nights at Alleppey, this was extremely substandard. It was filthy dirty, a non English speaking boat captain and cook, the food was disgusting and the kitchen .. A little spot on the back of the boat, was black with filth. The food was cooked, tea made etc from a garbage bin of very dirty water, there was no lights on board, out of approx 40 hours possible cruising, we actually cruised for about 12 hours and spent the rest of the time tied up at a mosquito riddled river bank, nothing to do in the evening, no guide books, no commentary (they couldn't speak English), no music, no company. It was absolutely horrible. When I phoned Go Heritage they assured me that it was a premium boat, when in reality it was the worst possible standard. The boat had been paid for at least 6 months prior to arriving in India, however Go Heritage only booked the boat 2 days before we arrived at Alleppey , so I guess they stuck us on anything that was left. Again we had no vouchers to secure a booking and no way out of this difficult situation.
On our last day we had booked and paid for a day rate at an airport hotel for,the last 6 hours or so as we had a midnight flight before return to our home country. When we checked out we were again asked to pay for the hotel. We explained that we had paid ... But it seems that Go Heritage had pocketed the money and not forwarded it on to the airport hotel, they refused to allow us to leave without paying, I refused to pay as we had already paid. It was an absolute fiasco. After speaking again with Go Heritage in Delhi they apologized profusely and requested that we re pay the hotel account and they would send us the money back as they had inadvertantly left it too late to send to the hotel. We eventually had no alternative otherwise we would have missed our flight .. We paid the money to the hotel and left.
Despite multiple, yes many many requests of Go heritage, and assurances of compliance, no money has been received from them yet for either our overpayment on the boat, (we paid for premium and received substandard) or the airport hotel (which was prepaid prior to our arrival in India and then paid again directly to the hotel so that we could leave).
I would strongly suggest that travelers find a different travel agency than Go Heritage as they are untrustworthy at best and possibly liars and cheats at worst.
