Introduction
Die Firma FALTKATT baut in Baden, Österreich, zusammenfaltbare kleine Katamarane aus Holz, die bei einer Länge von knapp 3 Metern 1 bis 4 Personen transportieren können.
Der komplette "Faltkatt" als Ruderboot wiegt 38 kg - der einzelne Bootskörper nur 13 kg, - somit ein Boot, das 1 Person alleine leicht transportieren, beziehungsweise auf ein Fahrzeugdach heben kann. Der "Faltkatt" kann nicht nur mit Segel, sondern auch mit Elektro-, oder Benzinmotor angetrieben werden. Man kann den "Faltkatt" auch in küstennahen Gewässern verwenden, weil er duch seine spezielle Lackierung natürlich auch salzwasserfest ist. Als Ruderboot ist er auf Grund seiner Bauweise unsinkbar. Zum Transport ist "Faltkatt" auf nur 10 cm flach zusammenfaltbar. Transportmaße: L/B/H: 297/130/10 cm. Vom zerlegten Transportzustand zusammengebaut und fahrbereit ist der "Leicht-Katt" ohne Werkzeug oder Luftpumpe in ca. 10 Minuten.
Der "Faltkatt" wurde im November 2013 auf der Inernationalen Erfindermesse IENA 13 in Nürnberg / Deutschland mit einer Gold-Medaille ausgezeichnet.

When taken down from the car roof, “FALTKATT†will be ready for use without the need for tools or air pump in app. 10 minutes. The boat hull is “naturally†made of wood, the aluminium connecting tubes are filled with foam and make the “FALTKATT†unsinkable. At a length of 3 meters, the boat can carry 1 to 4 persons and can be operated by paddles, motor or sail (available shortly).
The “FALTKATT†is in particular meant for campers and caravans, as their own height leaves little room above them. Another big advantage of this boat is that it can be transported and lifted to the roof in light parts (12,7 kgs). Even the ready- for-use boat with-out motor can easily be carried by just one person (only 37 kgs). Compared to folding boats, which are covered by a plastic skin, the wooden hull is consider-ably more resistant to sharp edges or hidden obstacles under water. The wedge-shaped boat hull keeps the direction better than flat boats when paddling or with side wind and it consequently needs no special keel for sailing. Its modular structure allows the“FALTKATT†to be used in many varieties, with 1 – to 4 seats, narrow or wide distance between the hulls, as rowing, motor or sailing boat. The basic model at the price of 1480,- Euros incl. VAT consists of the 2 boat hulls, 4 connecting tubes, 2 paddles, 2 seats and the necessary small parts. Not included in the price is delivery (pick-up price). Delivery can be immediately or take up to two weeks, depending on the state of orders.
