Introduction
Clowne Community Care Farm is a social activity in North Derbyshire.
Based on a three acre smallholding, the farm offerers a large range exciting activities and the chance to gain work experience in a variety of areas. We offer long term work experience placements for adults with learning, physical or mental health issues working as part of a team in one of our community enterprise businesses.
We can support you to work with different animals including pigs, chickens and horses to cook, bake, or serve customers in our community Café, or to grow seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs.
We have different activities that are available.
Farming and Outdoor Activities:
Animal care
Growing, harvesting, and preparation of fruit and vegetables
Nursery plants and flowers
Bagging manure and compost
Coppicing and preparation of firewood for sale
General gardening and maintenance
Fencing and hedging
Indoor Activities:
Catering
Retail
Flower arranging and preparing hanging baskets and containers
Woodwork and furniture making
ICT
Offsite Activities:
Making Deliveries
Leaflet distribution and sales events
Community activities
Adventure activities
Clients will receive full training and certification in all activities. Personal protection equipment will also be provided on site free of charge, which includes: anti-bacterial hand wash, goggles, overalls, wellies and gloves. Any protective equipment lost or damaged will need to be replaced by the client. However if personal protection equipment needs replacing due to wear and tear, this will be done free of charge. All persons attending must be dressed appropriately to participate in the activities, and must bring a change of clothes if required.
