Introduction
Casa Vino is a unique, wine oriented, casual dining experience located in the San Francisco Bay area in Berkeley, CA. We offer not only the largest 'Wines by the Glassâ? menu in the Bay Area (or possibly anywhere), but a full gourmet menu that appeals to even the most discerning of 'foodieâ? palates. Casa Vino offers a laid back, casual environment where people can enjoy a number of different wines without the pretentions commonly associated with such an experience.
Casa Vino has always embraced the 'farm to tableâ? aspects of contemporary dining that has recently become so popular...we just never boasted about such practices. Eating and cooking healthy has always been ingrained in how we eat, drink and prepare our foods for our customers. We have always served local, sustainable and organic foods as much as possible and likewise, often seeking out vineyards that engage in such practices. The bay area offers such a great proximity to some of the greatest food and wine sources in the entire world and we are so happy to fully utilize such proximity's both in food and wine quality and carbon imprint. One diversion from the current trends here at Casa Vino is that while 'small platesâ? have become all the rage, at Casa Vino, we believe that 'big platesâ?are still king for our customers.
If you are a 'certified wine freakâ? or just a casual, entry level wine enthusiast, Casa Vino will astound you in our vast selection of not only California wines but wines from around the world. As our wines by the glass menu can be somewhat overwhelming at first, we generally recommend asking your server for recommendations based on either simple or complex inclinations for your palate. Simply asking a customer 'what do you likeâ? based on a few flavor profiles is usually enough to dial someone into the perfect glass for them.
We usually feature multiple representations of different varietals in order to get an accurate representation of what each grape is capable of achieving through different climates and terroirs. We have featured as many as 6 different Cabernet Francs by the glass at one time, each one being uniquely different.
Owner Chris O'Meally has extensive knowledge of wines and food, working in the wine industry starting as a vineyard hand at age 14 during the summers breaks from school...literally learning about wine from the ground up. Chris also has a background in music & photography and his photography is featured on the walls at Casa Vino.
Our menu is diverse, our wine list is extensive and whether you are seeking a glass of wine from $5 (less at happy hour)â?¦or possibly seeking a rare find from the Wine Spectator's Top 100 wines of the world, there's a good chance that you will find what you are looking for.
