Meet Our Team (7)
Gulshan Rehman
ESOL Tutor
Gulshan Rehman graduated in 2005 with a BSc in Science and ICT from the University of Bolton. She went on to complete her PGCE in 2007 from Edgehill University. She is currently studying for her level 5 ESOL qualification. Gulshan also works with UCLan as a liaison officer and has been working at Sir John Thursby Community College for the past three years as a transition mentor.
Mahfouz Ahmed
MIFL, GTC, ESOL
Mahfouz Ahmed is a very experienced and enthusiastic teacher of ESOL and has been teaching for the last 20 years. He is a member for the Institute for Learning (MIFL) and also the General Teaching Council for England (GTC).
Martin Pope
ESOL Tutor
Martin Pope has been teaching ESOL for just over two years, one year voluntarily and one year at Accrington and Rossendale College. He has recently begun his second year of teaching at the College. All his classes at the college have achieved 100% pass rates in the Skills for Life exams so far. He has gained the Trinity TESOL Certificate and he has successfully completed the first year of a part-time Certificate in Education.
Pam Stowell
Academic Manager
Pam has been working within FE & ESOL for the past 25 years, having previously taught English in Secondary Schools. She has recently retired from her role as programme Leader for ESOL in a FE college. She works for NIACE/LLU+ as a National Trainer for Citizenship tutors & is the course tutor for the Level 5 Additional Diploma in ESOL/Literacy. In addition, Pam works as an Oral Examiner and External Moderator for 2 national awarding organisations.
Rukhsana Mahmood
ESOL Tutor
Ruksana Mahmood has over 10 years of experience of successfully teaching ESOL from Pre-Entry level to Level 2 in a wide range of settings. She has also been teaching Citizenship for over 3 years.
Shahida Parveen
ESOL Tutor
During the past 4 years she has worked at college as a Learning Support Worker, Project Support Worker and ESOL Tutor. Her roles have included supporting and advising students who have learning difficulties/disabilities, supporting second language learners and teaching ESOL/Citizenship. She has worked with learners on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. At college she has had the opportunity to work with different age ranges: adults and young people.
Tahir Hussain
Chief Executive
Tahir Hussain is a graduate in Business Studies. In 1993 He worked as a Health Education Co-ordinator for seven years with the local health authority in Lancashire. He was responsible for making health services more accessible to Black and Minority Ethic Communities, particularly drugs and HIV/AIDS awareness. Tahir also chaired the Health Authority BME Community Consultation Forum.
