Dr A Giridhar
Medical Director & Chief of Vitreo Retinal Services
Dr. Giridhar Anantharaman is currently Medical Director and Chief of Vitreoretinal Services at Giridhar Eye Institute, Cochin, Kerala State, India. He completed his Undergraduate and Post Graduate medical education from JIPMER, Pondicherry in the year 1983. Subsequently he had his sub-specialty training in Vitreo Retinal Diseases and Surgery at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, between June 1983 and August 1984. He has over two decades of experience as a practicing Vitreoretinal Surgeon. He has published 15 articles in peer reviewed journals pertaining to retinal diseases and has delivered over 200 lectures in various National and International conferences. Dr Giridhar has conducted many CME (Continuing Medical Educational) programs pertaining to vitreoretinal diseases. His areas of special interest include Diabetic Retinopathy, Age Related Macular Degeneration and Vitreous surgery.
Dr Giridhar has contributed significantly towards imparting education to young Ophthalmologists and also spreading awareness about Diabetes and its implications in the eye sight amongst General Practitioners and Health Workers by conducting many educational camps in the State of Kerala.
Dr Kanchana is his wife. His eldest daughter Sneha has completed her MBBS and pursuing her Post Graduation program and his youngest daughter Divya is pursuing her MBBS.
Dr Giridhar has contributed significantly towards imparting education to young Ophthalmologists and also spreading awareness about Diabetes and its implications in the eye sight amongst General Practitioners and Health Workers by conducting many educational camps in the State of Kerala.
