Vintage USA Gillette NEW Open Comb with Bar Handle

This is a great example of a classic Gillette NEW open comb safety razor. This razor has been restored back to its original condition in August '15, it was stripped down, replated and cleaned. A very fine example indeed.
The New Style Razor is highly collectible, as the name suggests this 'new style' of razor was very revolutionary in its time as it was one of the very first of the new generation of safety razors.
Stamped on the back of the head:
MADE IN USA, The Gillette logo, PAT NO: 1815745, PAT NO: 1858316, REISSUE PAT NO: 17567.
It is hard to narrow down the year of manufacture as the Gillette NEW was made before Gillette began using date codes, but after they stopped using serial numbers. We know they were made from 1930 until 1940 but can't be any more precise about the dating.

This razor has been restored back to factory condition and replated in shiny chrome for a hardwearing finish. It is 100% shave ready and will give many more years of faithful service.
This razor has been sonically cleaned but we recommend you wash it in warm soapy water before using it for the first time.
