Introduction
BOM-MACH was established in 1987 and soon thereafter started developing the STAMPEDE range of superior compaction- and related-equipment. At BOM-MACH, we realised that there was a desperate need for locally developed and manufactured compaction equipment that could withstand the harsh African
climate and conditions.
Our vision was to create quality compaction equipment that was designed by South Africans, manufactured & built by South Africans and used extensively across the African continent.
STAMPEDE’s design focuses around robustness, durability and reliability.
Since then the BOM-MACH team has worked tirelessly on improving service-levels and the quality of our products and spare parts. We have also extended our product range to offer a more comprehensive solution for our customers. This includes, but is not limited to, the addition of tar/concrete cutters, mobile lighting plants and towable 1,000Lt water- and diesel bowsers.
BOM-MACH pays particular attention to the quality of our products and all spares are manufactured using CNC machines with state of the art software. And with a focus towards over-engineering, we have successfully ensured that all our products are designed and built to outlast most competitor products while
still maintaining a competitive pricing model, thus reducing our customers’ total cost of ownership. This is especially relevant with regards to our very competitive pricing of spare parts. An added benefit to investing in our locally designed and manufactured STAMPEDE equipment is that it uses minimal working parts.
STAMPEDE rollers are fully hydrostatic which significantly improves reliability and removes many of the problematic working parts; STAMPEDE pedestrian rollers have no clutches and pulleys, no V-belts nor T-belts, and no rubber couplings - making it reliable and durable. To date, well over 2,500 STAMPEDE machines have been sold in the African market, primarily in Sub- Saharan Africa.
The benefits of our locally designed and manufactured STAMPEDE machines are:
- Downtime is minimised as spares are readily available instead of having to sometimes wait months for
imported parts.
- Prices are not held hostage by the ever-fluctuating exchange rate that makes it impossible to budget
for capital purchases and future maintenance.
STAMPEDE equipment is either fitted with the robust Hatz diesel engine or the reliable Honda petrol engine, which is often preferred by smaller contractors and plant hirers who may not have the technical diesel knowledge. Spare parts are readily available, even in the remotest parts of Africa.
As well as manufacturing the standard models that other competitors offer, STAMPEDE is the only known brand internationally that produces the trench or 35 roller and the big 900 or 90 pedestrian roller. We also manufacture a versatile single drum designed to pass through a standard doorway.
BOM-MACH are mass-producing the locally designed STAMPEDE ride-on rollers which maximise operator comfort and reduce operator fatigue. We are currently producing two models; the 1.5 Ton 900mm ride-on and the 2.5 Ton 1200mm ride-on. STAMPEDE ride-on rollers are fully hydrostatic with vibration and
drive on both the front and rear drums. The slim, sloped bonnet enhances safety by giving improved forward visibility thus allowing better accuracy in confined areas.
Although BOM-MACH’s primary focus is STAMPEDE, a significant portion of our business relates to the resale of replacement parts for many competitor products like BOMAG, WACKER, DYNAPAC and VIBROMAX especially with regards to the older, obsolete- or discontinued models. As an additional service to our clients, BOM-MACH has a very busy and professional workshop for customer repairs where we service, repair and rebuild all recognised brands and models of compaction equipment, including 10-Ton rollers and the older, obsolete- and discontinued machines.
