Our mission at Zen is simple: to make Japanese-inspired cuisine affordable, healthy and fun. Being from Austin, we figured the best way to do that was by combining fresh, quality ingredients with the funky vibe of modern Japanese pop culture. � What we ended up with is a menu that captures the zest for life and healthy living that defines our city. Unique flavors and creative dishes provide great tasting food that delights the senses and is healthy for both the body and soul. The menu is designed to give you complete control over your dietary health; you can choose to make it healthy or unhealthy, vegetarian or carnivore, or even gluten-free if you wish. A cool, simple interior makes Zen a nice place to sit and linger. Avocado-green walls, reed mats suspended from the ceiling, inventive halogen lights and utilitarian stools and tables are bolted to the floor. Young folks on a budget usually populate the place, but those who appreciate good food and fast service have also discovered it. Sushi rolls are super-cheap, as are dishes like sesame soba noodle salad--chilled buckwheat noodles in a sesame soy vinaigarette.

Some menu items are labeled "good for your heart." Ask your server for information on the relationship between saturated fats and heart disease.
